The Barcelona New Year Dance Festival celebrates its 10th edition this year!
From December 27th to 31st, we will gather to celebrate a decade of encounters, learning, dance, creation, and community. Ten years of sharing practices, experiences, and discoveries. Ten years of bidding farewell to one cycle and welcoming another through movement, community, and celebration.
Over these years, hundreds of people from all over the world have contributed to weaving a diverse, open, and vibrant community. We want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has been both Part and Art of this experience: participants, teachers, musicians, performers, organizers, and collaborators who have shaped this festival edition after edition.
To celebrate this very special anniversary, we will be joined by two internationally renowned artists and facilitators who will accompany us on our journey during these days: Bari Kim, who will bring her mastery from South Korea, and Pau Aran, a Catalan artist of international acclaim. Their proposals will invite us to delve deeper into listening, presence, creativity, and our relationship with movement from complementary and enriching perspectives. Both workshops will have simultaneous English/Spanish translation.
As in previous editions, each afternoon, after the workshops, the room will transform into a jam space open to Festival participants as well as the wider dance community of Barcelona and the surrounding area. It will be five days of training, research, encounter, and celebration, culminating in a New Year’s Eve Ritual and a party to welcome the new year together.
Due to the size of the space, spots are limited. If you feel called to be part of this very special edition and celebrate with us ten years of dance, community, and shared transformation, you will find the registration form below.
We look forward to seeing you to close this first decade and open the next chapter of this story together!
The chosen space is La Caldera, a dance creation center with an area of 220 sqm, natural light and wooden floors, located in the Les Corts neighborhood (Barcelona). This space has been accompanying and making visible the work of artists who consider the body as material, tool and central question of their research for 30 years.
The address is:
C/ Eugeni d’Ors, 12 (Barcelona)
Both New Year’s Eve Dinner as well as the closing party will take place in Casa Lazar, a space located a few metres away from Espai Cosmos Poblenou. Click here for more information.
The address for Dec 3st is:
C/ Pere IV, 29, 7th Floor 4th Door Atic
08018 Barcelona
For logistical reasons, lunch will not be included in the Festival. Even so, you can bring a tupperware, heat it in the microwave if you need it or try some restaurants in the area.
Every afternoon at 6pm there will be and assortment of fruit and snacks to recover energy and join the jam.
If you need accommodation during the Festival, we recommend using this Telegram channel that brings together a great deal of the Contact Improvisation community in Barcelona. Ara en Moviment does not manage this channel nor is it responsible for the accommodation of its participants or the logistics derived from it.
