Physics and Poetry of Contact Improvisation

As an artist, I regard any move or manifestation as a work of Art. I see dance as poetry born out of the mystery of simplicity and physical exploration.

I like combining basic techniques and a well-trained and skillful body, and leave space for improvisation in-between. These two elements – physicality and poetry – are very good and reliable partners, building together worlds and universes of dance. We will focus our attention on this area in the process. The technical and the poetic part of the class will intertwine and dance together.

Relying on some technical exercises and principles we will lay the basis for courage, further free research of poetic structures and let oneself free down the current of dance born in-between.

ABOUT ME

Dancer, choreographer, dancing coach and president of the Association for Development of Modern Dance in Moldova, organizer of international festivals of modern dance, choreographer and artistic director of the dance children school “Fantasy”, dancer and choreographer in modern dance group “Voices”, teacher in National Choreographic College.

She dances, improvises, teaches, creates choreography, takes part in international projects and performances as a dancer and as a choreographer.

Teaching geography: Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus, Bulgaria, Israel, Estonia, Russia, Latvia, Northern Ireland, France, Georgia, Greece, Italy, Romania, Hungary, Poland.

She cooperates with international companies and individual artists, with drama theatre in Moldova, as choreographer and dancer (main cooperation with Eugenio Ionescu National Drama Theatre), works with professional dancers, actors, students, amateurs, children and adults, in cooperation with musicians and filmmakers.

She organizes international festivals of modern dance in Moldova since 2000 (14 festivals to this day), with support from the Soros Foundation, ECF, Pro Helvetia, Swedish Institute, German Embassy, Alliance Française and other funding bodies.

She is the organizer of many dance events (small and bigger format) at a local and international level in Moldova, international co-producer of educational projects in Moldova, co-organizer of the professional performance projects in Moldova, Belarus, Ukraine and Georgia.
