INTENSIVE

Architecture in Partnering

Morning session:

We will begin the practice with physical training that will allow us to gain muscle tone as well as connection with space, the Earth, and others. We will use different games and tools that will help us deepen and put into practice the fundamental principles used in partner work. We will pay attention to supports, weight/counterweight and weight transfer, gaze, spatiality, resistance, listening and alertness. We will work from an articulated and elastic body that resolves efficiently and utilizes all limbs to conserve strength and dexterity.

Afternoon session:

The practice continues to build, adding layers that offer us a receptive, alert and available state. We focus our work on the architecture of the body, from the core to the extremities and vice versa, as well as on the relationship between fixed support (the ground) and mobile support (other bodies). We will work on the practice of being a base as a flyer and on the mix of roles. We will explore anchors, momentum, changes of direction, speed, trajectories, and travel through space, and we will emphasize how to distribute our body weight across multiple supports to achieve both stability and lightness. In improvisation, we will play, putting all the tools into practice, always with sensitivity, collaboration, listening, and trust.

ABOUT ME

Sol Vázquez Nicoloff (Argentina, 1981) is a dancer, creator, and dance teacher. She researches movement, improvisation, and partnering.

After working for 10 years as a performer in various dance and circus companies, where the main language was largely based on partnering, she gradually discovered and developed tools to understand the fundamental principles of partner work. She is currently continuously recycling and updating her experience with the aim of focusing her workshops on contact relationships in duos and groups.

Starting with movement as a driving force, her interest lies in mechanics, listening, and the collaboration of bodies. Touching, connecting, guiding, and trusting, allowing ourselves to be traversed and transformed by spaces, sound, and contact with other bodies.

Her practice proposes finding organic paths that allow us to inhabit a flexible and active body and mind, enhancing both the physical and perceptual abilities of each individual.
